Abstract

Art from the first centuries was represented by the religious art and more specifically, by the icon. In Romanian art is vital the presence of byzantine tradition, very conservative. Romanian artists participated too, to the great debate on the image in modern art. But they did not consider the trying to extend the traditions as lagging behind, but as an added prestige of the old values of Eastern Christianity. Ion Andreescu through his work of painting gives a huge lesson on how he looks and observes the world. Trying to bring to light how the works of Romanian artists were influenced by the sacred, we dialogue on this subject with important representatives of Romanian art, presenting their opinions in comparison. Are presented the opinions of Constantin Prut, Alexandra Titu, Ioan Bizău, Silviu Oravitzan
