ALEXANDRU LEAHU - 90 YEARS OF LIFE IN MUSICOLOGY: MASTERS OF THE KEYBOARD, FROM THE MASTER OF WORDS ABOUT MUSIC. Homage
Keywords:

It is difficult to talk about the people who formed you, with words and beyond words, in an art that requires detachment from the materiality of the word in order to reproduce the essence of music - precisely through it. It is difficult to calibrate in a few words - even if they are homages - the people who do not fit into words, because they did more than books and courses, because they were more than simple existences located outside a vocation. We are talking about Alexandru Leahu, the master of Bucharest musicology in the 20th century, the one who - if he had not been called to his mission in eternity - would have turned 90 at the end of February 2025. At the moment of assessment, the two great volumes that he wrote, surprisingly, at the beginning of his creative maturity remain: Domenico Scarlatti and The Masters of the Keyboard.
