MUSICAL EDUCATION, A CONSTANT IN THE EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY

Abstract

Musical education has its roots in ancient society, where crowned heads granted religious music a prominent place, as it was constantly present in the lives of ancient peoples. During the Middle Ages, musical education was primarily vocal, based on the idea that the most accessible and straightforward musical instrument is the human voice—a concept that dominated both religious and secular music until the 14th–15th centuries. In the modern era (19th century), the path to mass musical education was through the deciphering of musical scores, leading to the development of various learning techniques and methods. The 20th century brought about the reform of music education based on the principles of active schooling, resulting in significant changes in teaching and learning methods.
