THE 1898 GENERATION OF SPANISH INTELLECTUALS AND CONJUNCTURAL REFERENCES OF A SOCIO-CULTURAL CRISIS
Keywords:
generation, conjuncture, crisis, traditionAbstract
Since the beginning of the 17th century, Spain has been drawing a line of separation between what was its own culture until that moment and what it would become. Westernized countries, developed in all aspects, such as France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, England or the Netherlands, will be taken into consideration as models for imitation. As a consequence, Spanish culture abandons the exclusivity of its personality, by reflecting all spiritual values, of an indisputable richness and variety, remarkable for its geographical, climatological, culinary, folkloristic and linguistic diversity.
