BANAT MUSICAL FOLKLORE, A SOURCE OF THE MUSICAL CREATION OF THE COMPOSER SABIN DRĂGOI

Abstract

Sabin Drăgoi has been fascinated, since early childhood, by the musical atmosphere of his birth village, he assimilated the melodic and rhythmic substance of the people amidst of which he lived his childhood and adolescence, learning to cherish millenary culture. By his complex work of collector, researcher and composer, Drăgoi discloses aspects only sporadically capitalized by then by other composers. One of the most representative and original sides of Drăgoi’s style consists of his harmonic thinking. Drăgoi showed a great interest as related to the modal aspect of the folkloric song which he investigated and used as a fundamental element due to enrich music expressivity.
