AN ANALYSIS OF “ARIA DEI SOSPIRI” COMPOSED BY DAN DEDIU

Abstract

Composed on the basis of the glissando effect on the vibraphone key “Aria dei sospiri” remains a unique opus in the Romanian creation for solo vibraphone. It is for sure an opus which highlights the composer’s remarkable style and talent for using new interpretational techniques, transcending the purely acoustic, sonic reality. That is why this work illustrates the composer’s vision on music by relating the sound structures to themselves. This article seeks to demonstrate that the aesthetic value of “Aria dei sospiri” is given by playing the game between the unity of the expressive means and the inner significance of the entire discourse.
