The development in the last half century of Music Therapy as a profession makes this field very attractive for young graduates of musical study programs as an occupational alternative to becoming a performer or entering the education system. Also more and more psychologists or doctors concerned with holistic healing (body-soul-mind) use music in their work based on the effects that its structural elements have on the functioning of human body and implicitly on healing. This article presents one of the most used models of receptive Music Therapy, Guided Imagery and Music and the correlations between the auditory and imaginary spheres that develop in this type of Music Therapy experience, aiming to provide those interested with the information presented synthetically.
