Abstract

Each composer’s effort is determined by their attitude towards music, by the deep, inner necessity to write music, as well as by their attempt to provide each musical work with its own identity. The universe of this composer’s work is quite generous, revealing a well-defined personality, with a stylistic approach molded on the entities of Greek spirituality. In the climate of stylistic diversity that has characterized the Greek and overall European composition in recent years, Karafillidis brings forth an indubitable mark of professional probity. This article comprises an overall outlook on the work of this young composer, but also a more in-depth analysis of two particular works: “Micrographies” and ”The Darkness of time” (for string quartet).
