ANALYTICAL ASPECTS IN WORKING RITUAL FOR THE THIRST OF THE EARTH (RITUAL FOR THE THIRST OF THE EARTH) BY MYRIAM MARBÉ

Abstract

.Myriam Marbé's creation is a synthesis between extreme rigor and aleatoric music. The composer did not avoid the dodecaphonic, serial and electronic music, the aleatory music and any artifice dominated by logic, towards a convincing finality. Concern for the expressive resources of the choral ensemble -of the vocality springing from folklore in general -was a central axis in his valuable creation. This stylistic affinity is probably materialized in the most "telling" way, in Ritual for the thirst for the earth, the creator appealing here to archaic folk song lyrics to which she gives an unusual and varied musical interpretation.
