THE “ION VIDU” CHOIR CONDUCTED BY DIMITRIE STAN: MEMOIRES

Abstract

Dimitrie Stan was a personality that brought remarkable contributions to the cultural life of the towns Lugoj, Timișoara, andSighet, by means of his prodigious activity as teacher and conductor. Inthe year 1943 he became the conductor of the „Ion Vidu” Choir in Lugoj,continuing the endeavour of his precursors to develop a new repertorialrange. Due to the prodigious activity conducted at national andinternational from 1880 onwards, the Ion Vidu Choir has remained alandmark of the choral singing movement in Banat, offering memorableexperiences to musing loving audiences.
