A ROMANIAN MUSICOLOGICAL VISION OF CLAUDE DEBUSSY’S MODALISM

Abstract

Not being a founder of a national school but rather a successorof it, Claude Debussy does not resort to his own folklore like hiscontemporaries but creates his own language, by returning to diatonia,cultivating a song based on a modalism in personal meaning, dominatedof pentatonia, hexachord or heptachord. "To demonstrate the constantcirculation of values between the cultures of different peoples, we mustrefer to Claude Debussy, a typical representative of French sensibility, thecreator of Impressionism in contemporary music."
