PAINTING’S NEW TERRITORIES. THE PICTORIAL TAKES OVER

Abstract

The art of today is extremely dynamic; it follows theinterdisciplinary trends that characterize society, while contemporaryartists increasingly feel the need to abandon artistic tradition,transgressing it and combining various techniques and technologies toexplore new possibilities of expression. The present article aims to pindown a few moments that marked the evolution of the 20th century up tothe present moment, examining a few new territories conquered bypainting, which illustrate the pictorial’s manifest tendency to take overspace, from the relief to the painted object and installation. Our interestfocuses on the diversity of the idea of painting in various mediums.
