Abstract

Niccolo Paganini, the composer who revolutionized violin playing, was also a passionate guitarist, having created many works for this instrument. The goal of this research is to prove that these compositions, although often times frustratingly simple, can be included in the concert repertoire of modern guitar players alongside musical works of famous composers of the same period, such as Luigi Legnani or Mauro Giuliani, if the interpreter deeply understands their musical essence and takes certain liberties with the musical text, in regard to improvisation, ornamentation and timbral effects.
